Where it worksWeb, WordPress, Chrome, FirefoxCMS and browser integrations
Use the WordPress plugin or Chrome and Firefox extensions. The vendor also lists Contentful, DatoCMS, Storyblok, Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, and BigCommerce integrations. No ebook-formatting integration was documented.
Usage & termsCredit use varies by formatReview descriptions in context
Standard formats (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP) use one credit per image; advanced formats (AVIF, HEIC, HEIF, JP2, SVG, TIFF) use two. Each additional language costs one credit per image.
The website scanner checks up to 25 pages for missing alt text. Its scan does not verify every part of accessibility, and the tool does not document EPUB output.
The vendor recommends human review for complex visualizations; generated text may need editing to reflect why an author placed the image on a particular page.
Start with a site image or a batch
Generate a description from a local image or URL, or import images through CSV. Add context or target keywords, then apply a custom final-pass prompt per image or across the account. This gives an author a reviewable draft for a blog, author page, or launch image.
Review and edit before publishing
The image library lets authors search generated descriptions, edit them manually, and export a CSV. The author can check each description against the image's role in its page rather than treating the first generation as final.
Edit and move descriptions into the site

Connect it to the author website

A WordPress plugin can work with a site's media library; Chrome and Firefox extensions offer a copy-and-paste route for other web platforms. The vendor also lists native CMS and store integrations. These workflows concern website images; no ebook or EPUB export was established.

Recorded requirements and limits
- Coverage is limited to author websites and blogs. No EPUB editing, book-interior accessibility, or publisher-ready ebook export workflow was established in the reviewed official sources.
- Generated descriptions need human review for their page context and image role. The vendor says complex visualizations may need human checking and that alt text alone does not ensure whole-site accessibility compliance.
- The official pricing page displays dollar signs without naming the currency. Prices below are preserved as displayed; confirm the checkout currency before purchase.
- AltText.ai's privacy notice, last updated 8 June 2025, says uploaded image files are stored temporarily and removed after processing. It says image and alt-text data are not used to train, enhance, or generate AI models without expressed written consent. Other personal information may be retained while an account is active, with legal and operational exceptions.
