Scene drafting
Carry story plans into the draft
The fiction workflow develops plot and world details into book, chapter, and scene outlines, then uses those references when drafting scenes. You can begin at drafting rather than follow every planning stage.
Selection controls also rephrase, expand, contract, or continue prose, with an option for your own instruction. The co-writer edits project pages directly; earlier saved versions provide a way to revisit the result.
Series continuity
Keep a series connected to what happened before
A freeform story bible holds characters, locations, plot, and research. The Story State ledger records facts and reveals with their chapter references, giving continuity checks a record to consult across volumes.
Proselon documents updating the series plot when a book is marked complete, so planning the next volume can refer to the preceding draft's outcome.
Voice references
Give the model prose worth following
A style guide and voice reference live beside the manuscript and accompany drafting. Examples of your own writing supply concrete prose patterns, while the anti-pattern reference records constructions you want subsequent passes to avoid.
The documented editing workflow separates developmental findings, voice revision, line assessment, continuity checks, and copyediting. Some passes return findings; others change the prose.
Context, file control, and publishing prep
-
Find the page behind a story reference
-
The on-demand story graph maps concepts in the project, with nodes that open their pages. Co-writer replies can also cite specific lines, taking you back to the passage under discussion.
-
Protect completed chapters and set context boundaries
-
Locking a page or folder leaves it readable as context but prevents editing until it is unlocked. Hiding removes material from co-writer context, the story graph, counts, and exports, while leaving it available for you to open and edit.
-
Keep readable files and recover earlier work
-
Each project page is a local Markdown file with YAML metadata. Automatic and named versions can be inspected and restored for a page or the project; restoring an older version retains the intervening history.
Export packages work as Word, EPUB, HTML, or Markdown. The files and history remain in your folder if you leave the app. Local storage is separate from the processing and recording choices described in the requirements.
-
Inspect the editing routes behind the text
-
Proselon records text arriving through the editor, from a working AI engine, or by an unknown route. Imported manuscripts begin as Unknown. The record follows observed changes and surviving text rather than judging prose by its style.
Pasted text enters through the editor too. These labels describe recorded edit routes; they do not detect the origin of externally pasted material or certify copyright eligibility.
-
Prepare the materials around the finished book
-
The documented publishing workflow assists with title research, blurbs, retailer categories and keywords, an author bio, cover-image prompts, and formatting guidance. It draws on the project the co-writer has been working with.

Recorded requirements and limits
- Requires a Proselon account and its Mac or Windows application. The 30-day trial requires no payment card.
- Supply AI through a supported provider account, your own API key, or a compatible local model through Ollama or LM Studio. Provider costs and usage limits are separate; local use needs suitable hardware and a model with the required tool capabilities.
- Provider integrations remain subject to the provider's own terms and availability.
- Manuscript files stay in your chosen folder, but cloud AI receives the material sent to it under its own data policy. A synced folder also follows its storage provider's terms.
- Where session recording is enabled, Proselon's app window can expose pages and chats to PostHog. The policy specifies one-month recording retention and an account privacy switch; defaults vary by location.
